Botijuela is an impoverished community, settled in the southeast corner of the beautiful Dominican Republic. It is located just outside the tourist area of Bayahibe less than ten minutes away. The visual image of the lack and poverty there is forever burned into our hearts! Most of the families in the community of Botijuela, have no electricity, or running water. Let alone, clean (parasite free) drinking water. This area is remote and doesn’t see much support from the government or outside world. Corruption often steals what little should be for them, and many go hungry every day! This community is our focus and we desire to be a support to them. Relationship building is key, and to do that, we must be in the field working hand in hand to help them to find the answers to their everyday struggle. Through relationship building & the Love of Jesus in action, we are making an impact one person, family & community at a time.

Meet Moises – He is our friend, and community contact to Botijuela. We were made aware of his difficult situation when a special someone reached out to us to try and raise help for him to obtain a much-needed prosthetic leg. He suffered a horrific motorcycle accident that left him without his left leg for over 3 years. A lack of work, pandemic oppression and just outright hardship left him and his family without hope and they were severely struggling. Through the faithfulness of many people in multiple countries and ministries working together, he was not only able to get a prosthetic leg FOR FREE, but Jesus did a mighty work in him. When we visited with him during our MissionS/Vacation this past October, and experienced the reality of the daily struggles that he and the others face in the community our hearts were burdened. We knew then that God wasn’t just restoring one man’s life but desired to bring revival to the entire community. Moises was that open door for us to be able to share the love of Jesus not only to him, but THROUGH him, as we were then able to host, WITH HIS HELP, their very first GRATIS MEDICAL CLINIC in Botijuela. This also included food distribution, clean bottled water & vitamins for each person/family. Over 70 families were served that day. Every family saw a doctor, received education from a team of volunteer medical professionals and most importantly was introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ. With the help of a local Doctor we were able to establish a system for the indigent to receive free medical examination diagnosis and treatment until our return in April 2022. This was identified as one of their biggest concerns. To have been able to establish a system for follow-up medical care is a dream to most who live there! Well-meaning missionaries come and go but it is our desire to build trust and give them hope by pointing them to Jesus. It was a great joy & privilege to be a part of this blessing. How incredibly awesome it was to see Moises full of joy and able to love on others in the same way Jesus loves him; paying it forward.

Many others in Botijuela, not unlike Moises, are hurting physically, emotionally and spiritually due to a lack of resources. Many have nothing! What is Jesus calling you to do?
