Clean & Accessible Water for Kiong’ ongi – Digging A Well in Kisii, Kenya
Safe and readily available water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food preparation or agricultural purposes. Improved water supply and sanitation, and ready access of water resources can boost the communities economic growth and can contribute greatly to poverty reduction.
Access to water in remote areas of Kenya is challenging with its alternating valleys and ridges of varying depths and heights. Even when accessible, in most cases, the water is not clean for drinking; causing intestinal parasitic infections resulting in seizures, blindness, heart failure and even death.
The erection of a well will supply water to the village of Kiong’ ongi where currently families are faced with walking up to a mile away or more in search of clean water for people and animals. Bridges Abroad has helped in the beginning process of this project. The base of the well has been dug by hand to a depth of 50 ft. The foundation at ground level is the next step to completing the project, making it available for use as the first ever, and only water source, readily accessible to these families. The remainder of the work includes installation of the water pump, the above ground foundation, crank, bucket, roofing and a clean water purification system.
Help us to bless the families of this village with the Love of Jesus by providing one of the most basic necessities to life!
